CYCLE, WHAT IF WOMEN RULED THE WORLD?
From December 2023 to November 2024, the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMΣT) presents a cycle of exhibitions, in four parts, exclusively dedicated to the work of women artists or artists who identify as female, under the broader umbrella title, What if Women Ruled the World?
On 8 March 2024, International Women’s Day, Part II of the exhibition cycle will inaugurate six new projects by five artists:
Yael Bartana, Claudia Comte, Lola Flash, Malvina Panagiotidi and Hadassah Emmerich
The National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMΣT) in Athens has long been a beacon for provocative and boundary-pushing art, but their current exhibition series, “What if Women Ruled the World?” takes this ethos to a new level. Until November 2024, the museum is showcasing a cycle of exhibitions exclusively dedicated to women artists or those who identify as female. Among the standout artists featured in Part II of this series is Hadassah Emmerich whose immersive and sensual work invites viewers into a world of vibrant color and complex identity.
For her debut in Greece, Emmerich has created a new large-scale, site-specific mural titled “Epicurean Eden,” which dominates the museum’s ground floor foyer and mezzanine. The installation is a multi-layered masterpiece, consisting of several murals, a large frieze on the balcony of the mezzanine, and monumental columns adorned with Emmerich’s signature imagery.
